St. Michael Parish Naziragbe Raises 9 Million SSP Toward Church Construction

By Waure Eddy.

St. Michael Catholic Quasi Parish in Naziragbe 1 has raised 9 million South Sudanese Pounds during a fundraising event Sunday, October 4, 2026, to support completion of its church building currently at the roofing stage.

The fundraising was organized to mobilize resources for completing construction delayed by financial challenges. The parish estimates requiring 50 million South Sudanese Pounds total to finish the structure.

Major Pledges and Donations

Caretaker Governor of Western Equatoria State Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa donated 1 million South Sudanese Pounds. General Alex Abayosa and his wife, Tagbala, donated 1.5 million pounds, pledging continued support for the construction.

Three engineers offered professional services free of charge to help complete the building. Multiple well-wishers pledged additional financial support.

Community Call for Collective Responsibility

Fundraising Chairperson Madam Regina Naumba appealed to all sons and daughters of Naziragbe living outside the country to contribute toward church completion. She called on local leaders, church leaders, youth, and women to take collective responsibility instead of leaving the project to individuals.

“The estimated budget required to complete the building is 50 million South Sudanese Pounds, and the parish is still seeking additional support,” Naumba stated.

Parish Leadership’s Message

Parish Priest Father Anthony Bangoye encouraged the faithful to unite and support the construction, emphasizing that bringing God’s people together for this work is important. “God sees the generosity of every person,” he told the congregation.

Regina Naumba and Elia Richard Box were recognized for their continued efforts advancing the construction project.

Ongoing Campaign

Parish leadership appeals to individuals, families, community leaders, and well-wishers within and outside South Sudan to continue supporting the project. Additional fundraising activities are planned for the coming period as the parish works toward closing the 41-million-pound funding gap.
