The Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CODEP) pledged to construct a poultry house for the Sustainable Agriculture for Rural Development (SARD) Institute, a move aimed at enhancing practical agricultural education for students.

The announcement was made during a strategic meeting held on Monday between CODEP Director Fr. Charles Mbikoyo and SARD Director Fr. Emmanuel Bie, alongside other institute members. Fr. Mbikoyo reaffirmed CODEP’s commitment to supporting agricultural development through hands-on learning infrastructure.

“We are ready to support SARD with the construction of a poultry house to ensure students gain deeper knowledge in agricultural production,” said Fr. Mbikoyo. “We have a series of agricultural activities, and we will continue knocking on partners’ doors to make this vision a reality.”

He also expressed gratitude to bishop for his unwavering hospitality and consistent efforts in mobilizing support for CODEP and other diocesan programs under CDTY. “Through the bishop’s guidance, we are able to achieve our goals with the help of partners,” he added.

Fr. Emmanuel Bie welcomed the initiative, describing it as a wise and timely intervention. “We are thinking higher about this institute.

We want our students to enjoy their learning without any hindrance,” he emphasized. “The journey started small, but it is growing. We thank the bishop for his tireless efforts in supporting institutions under CDTY.”

Fr. Joachim Oboi, Parish Priest of St. Augustine, also voiced his support, pledging cooperation to ensure the institute’s progress. “Our children must enjoy the benefits of this institute. The bishop and State Government are both watching closely to see its betterment,” he said.

SARD Institute, a registered educational institution in South Sudan, has been operational for several years and continues to graduate students equipped with skills in sustainable agriculture.

The upcoming poultry house is expected to serve as a practical learning hub, reinforcing the institute’s mission to empower rural communities through agricultural education.

This collaboration marks another milestone in the Diocese’s broader commitment to development, peace building, and youth empowerment through vocational training.
