The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, the Most Reverend Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary following the death of Sister Eliviria Miidie, Vicaress of the religious community.
In a letter dated July 17, 2026, addressed to Mother General Antonietta Bakosoro at the community’s headquarters in Namugongo, Kampala, Uganda, Bishop Hiiboro described Sister Eliviria as a dedicated religious, inspiring formator, and committed educator whose generous service greatly enriched the Diocese of Tombura-Yambio.
The Bishop emphasized that Sister Eliviria’s faithful witness to Christ and humble dedication to the Church’s mission would remain a lasting inspiration to all who knew her. He recognized her significant contributions to religious formation and educational ministry within the diocese.
Prayers and Spiritual Support
On behalf of the clergy, religious, and faithful of the Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, Bishop Hiiboro assured the Missionary Sisters of their prayers for the peaceful repose of Sister Eliviria’s soul.
The Bishop also remembered in prayer her family, the faithful of her home parish, and the Vicariate of Ezo, where she was born and nurtured in faith. He invoked the comfort and strength of the Blessed Virgin Mary for those mourning Sister Eliviria’s passing.
Legacy of Faith and Service
Sister Eliviria Miidie’s decades of religious life exemplified commitment to formation, education, and pastoral service. As Vicaress of the Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, she held significant responsibility for supporting the spiritual and community life of the religious community.
The Diocese of Tombura-Yambio benefited from her service as educator and formator, with many young people receiving formation through her dedicated ministry.
Bishop Hiiboro expressed spiritual closeness to the Missionary Sisters during their time of loss and prayed that the Lord would grant the community courage and peace as they continue the mission to which Sister Eliviria dedicated her life so faithfully.
“May Sister Eliviria rest in the peace of Christ,” the Bishop concluded, commending her soul to God’s eternal mercy.
