MUNGUO / Maridi — Joy and celebration filled Munguo Catholic Parish on Sunday, 30 November 2025, as ninety-four Christians received the Sacrament of Confirmation in a vibrant ceremony presided over by Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY).

The event — described by parishioners as one of the most significant in recent years — marked a spiritual milestone for the newly confirmed candidates, and a historic moment for the parish community.
As part of the celebration, Bishop Hiiboro performed several important blessings. He officially blessed the newly constructed church building, symbolizing the culmination of months of communal effort. The ceremony included the traditional cutting of a ceremonial log — a cultural gesture signifying openness and new beginnings. In addition, the bishop blessed the new altar and ambo, completing the full dedication of the new worship space.

Hundreds of faithful—including local community members and visiting worshippers—gathered for the occasion, filling the parish compound with song, dance and prayers of thanksgiving. Parish leaders described the day as a testament to the growing faith and unity within the community.
The newly confirmed Christians expressed gratitude and renewed commitment to their spiritual journey, while parishioners rejoiced over both the strengthening of church membership and the unveiling of their newly blessed place of worship.

The event highlighted not only the parish’s spiritual growth but also its physical and communal development — reflecting the continued vibrancy of Catholic life in the region under the guidance of the Diocese of Tombura-Yambio.
