Members of St. Josephine Bakhita Parish in Yambio carried out a community cleaning exercise at Yambio State Hospital on Saturday, October 11. The event was led by Fr. Thomas Bagbiowia, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY), who joined dozens of parishioners in scrubbing wards, clearing hospital grounds, and collecting waste.

The initiative, organized as part of the parish’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and outreach, aimed to support the hospital staff in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for patients and healthcare workers.
“We are called not only to pray but also to serve,” said Fr. Bagbiowia during the event. “This is our small way of showing solidarity with the sick and the health workers who care for them. It is a reminder that our faith must be lived out through acts of love, compassion, and service.”

The faithful worked side by side, bringing renewed energy to the hospital premises. Staff members and patients expressed gratitude for the gesture, which comes at a time when the facility continues to face challenges related to sanitation and limited resources.
St. Josephine Bakhita Parish has been actively involved in various outreach programs, including youth empowerment, spiritual guidance, and support for vulnerable groups.
The event concluded with a prayer for the sick, hospital staff, and the entire community, reinforcing the parish’s message that true worship is reflected in service to others.
