TOMBURA COUNTY — The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, has commended the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) for their role in maintaining peace and stability in Tombura County, Western Equatoria State.

The county has experienced conflict for more than three years, forcing thousands of civilians to flee their homes and seek refuge in IDP camps.

Call for Professionalism and Humanity
During a courtesy visit to the army barracks, Bishop Hiiboro urged the forces to value humanity and uphold professionalism in their duties.

“People of South Sudan have gone through horrible situations that need commitment from every South Sudanese to restore hope for everlasting peace,” the Bishop said.

Officers Express Appreciation
Speaking during an interactive round-table session, several officers expressed appreciation for the Bishop’s visit, saying it was encouraging and would help them remain focused on their responsibilities.
