The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio today, 14th September, concluded its family gathering for the celebration of Titarani Bishop Gasi Abangite Day, which was crowned with the diocesan annual event Hume Koda Bee Hume Koda Bera. Despite the challenges many parishes face because of insecurity, the faithful came together in a remarkable spirit of unity and generosity, contributing abundantly to support the activities of their bishop.

Most of the donations were drawn from the fruits of their labor farm produce such as maize, groundnuts, cassava flour, and other consumable food items. This collective effort reflected a growing sense of solidarity within the Christian community, who have wholeheartedly embraced the bishop’s call for self-reliance and mutual support in building a strong and sustainable local Church.

Speaking at the conclusion of the celebration, His Lordship Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, commended the faithful for their remarkable generosity. “I thank you, my people, for the great contribution you have made. Your generosity today shows how much you love your Church and how ready you are to walk together with your shepherd,” said the prelate.

He further encouraged the faithful to nurture this spirit of unity and self-sufficiency, adding, “Together, we can strengthen our Christian community by putting our hands together to build a Church that is self-reliant and alive with faith.”

The Ordinary of CDTY also assured the people that the resources collected would be carefully directed toward the growth of the diocese in vital areas. “Everything you have offered will go to the formation of our seminarians, the strengthening of our vocation centre, and assistance to the needy in our communities,” he affirmed.

In his final remarks, Bishop Hiiboro urged the people not to underestimate their offering, reminding them that their contribution was more than just material support. “Do not look at what you have done lightly,” he said. “It is great, because it reflects exactly what is in your mind and in your heart. What truly matters is what pushes you to make such an act of love.” He went on to affirm the shared mission of the Church, declaring, “We are going to build this diocese together with you.” With humility, he added a personal pledge: “I may not have much to offer you in return, but know that my daily prayers, and the prayers of all the priests, will always follow you.
