Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio has commended the administration and staff of St. Tereza Mission Hospital Nzara for their dedication and progress in delivering healthcare services despite ongoing challenges.

The hospital administration briefed the Bishop on current working conditions, noting that operations remain steady and staff continue to serve patients with commitment and resilience.

Bishop Hiiboro visited the hospital administrator’s office at the beginning of the New Year to assess progress and encourage the medical team. He expressed satisfaction with the commitment demonstrated by the staff in saving lives and serving the community.

During the visit, the Bishop praised the acquisition of a new chemistry machine and other medical equipment delivered before the end of 2025 under the supervision of Hospital Administrator Dr. Benson Lockoli. He described the development as a major step toward strengthening healthcare services in Nzara and surrounding areas.

“The hospital is going to be well equipped this year with materials and departments. We will continue to lobby for more support so that the hospital can safeguard the community of Western Equatoria and South Sudan at large,” Bishop Hiiboro said.

He added that the newly acquired chemistry machine and equipment will soon become operational, significantly improving diagnostic services and saving lives across the region.

Dr. Benson Lockoli welcomed the Bishop’s visit and highlighted improvements at the facility despite persistent challenges.

“The working conditions at St. Tereza Mission Hospital are improving, even though we still face challenges such as limited resources and high patient demand. The new chemistry machine will greatly enhance our diagnostic capacity, allowing us to provide faster and more accurate results for patients,” Dr. Lockoli said.

He also expressed appreciation for the Bishop’s encouragement, noting that it continues to motivate staff to work harder for the well-being of the community.

Medical Director and Resident Obstetrician/Gynecologist, Dr. Taban Loponi Charles, emphasized the dedication of the hospital staff as the New Year begins.

“Our team is working with great commitment. The staff are busy day and night, ensuring that lives are saved within Nzara and across the borders,” Dr. Loponi said.

He acknowledged challenges such as shortages of supplies and high patient volumes but stressed that the hospital remains resilient.

“We thank Bishop Hiiboro for coming to the hospital. His presence reminds us that our work is valued, and it strengthens our resolve to continue serving the people,” he added.

Bishop Hiiboro’s visit marks a hopeful start to 2026 for St. Tereza Mission Hospital Nzara. With new equipment ready for deployment and staff demonstrating unwavering dedication, the hospital is poised to expand its capacity to serve the people of Western Equatoria State and South Sudan at large.
