The community of Yambio is celebrating a major milestone in education with the official inauguration of the newly constructed St. Augustine Nursery and Primary School, a state-of-the-art institution funded through international collaboration and local vision.

The school, inaugurated last Saturday, was made possible through generous funding from the faithful of St. Joseph and St. Jude parishes in Rumia, Poland, with strong support from Monsieur K, the parish priest. Representing the Polish supporters at the ceremony was Sister Elizabeth, who played a pivotal role in both the infrastructure development and ongoing management of the school.

The vision for the school was spearheaded by Fr Joachim Oboie, the parish priest in Yambio, in collaboration with his congregation. What began as a local initiative quickly gained international backing, resulting in a modern educational facility that now stands as a model of excellence in the region.

Speaking at the event, Bishop Hiiboro emphasized the Catholic Church’s dedication to human development and the formation of resourceful citizens who can serve both the nation and the church.

“This school represents more than just a building, it’s a symbol of partnership, hope, and the shared commitment to providing quality education for our children.” Bishop Hiiboro said

Western Equatoria state minister of education and general instruction Hon. Grace Apollo Musa praised the strong collaboration between the Church and the Government in advancing education across state. She urged parents to support their children’s education by encouraging them to attend school regularly and stay committed to their studies.

The new institution is expected to significantly boost educational opportunities for children in Yambio, offering a comprehensive curriculum in a modern environment equipped with essential learning facilities.

The Diocese expressed deep gratitude to the Polish donors and emphasized the ongoing collaboration between the Yambio Catholic community and their partners in Poland. Letters of appreciation have been sent, reaffirming the commitment to future projects and deeper cooperation.
