Father Thomas Bagbiowia, Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio, joined Muslim leaders, government officials, and community representatives at the Yambio Mosque on Friday, 13 March 2026, for the 2nd Ramadan Get-Together — a gathering held on the 23rd day of Ramadan dedicated to fostering interfaith solidarity and peaceful coexistence in the region.

The event drew a broad cross-section of Yambio’s leadership and civil society, including the Deputy Governor, Muslim and Christian faith leaders, and members of the wider community. Their joint presence at the mosque signalled a deliberate and public commitment to the values of mutual respect and religious harmony that underpin stable community life.

Participants at the gathering placed strong emphasis on the themes of unity, peacebuilding, and inter-religious collaboration. Speakers underscored that sustainable development and long-term stability in the region depend not on the dominance of any single faith or community, but on the collective resolve of all groups to work together in a spirit of shared humanity.

The Vicar General’s attendance reflects the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio’s ongoing engagement with interfaith dialogue as a pillar of its pastoral mission. In a region where religious and community bonds are central to daily life, such visible gestures of solidarity carry significant weight — demonstrating that the path to lasting peace runs through dialogue, not division.

The Ramadan Get-Together has become an important fixture in Yambio’s interfaith calendar, providing a space where leaders of different traditions can break down barriers, build personal relationships, and reaffirm their collective responsibility for the peace and welfare of the communities they serve.
