The administration of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY) has condemned the attack of Catholic Priests at Don Bosco Parish Manguo in Maridi County of Western Equatoria State by unknown gun men on Monday 27th 2025 asking for security, investigation and justice stressing that the attack is a serious crime and destruction of entire community.
According to report by 99.4 foundation FM, “the parish priest Fr Micheal Jacob said, two men entered their resident at round 9:30 pm, one with a gun and the other with a knife all were putting on civilian attires, the robbers ordered them to sit down on the flour and asked them for money , in responding that they don’t have money, immediately they started searching the room where they found an amount of 6 million South Sudan pound in a box which was for the payment of the teachers today and 9 thousand US dollar which was meant for the construction of church building”.
According to bishop Eduardo, the bishop of CDTY noted that Don Bosco Parish area is remote from the city center of Maridi, and urged the government to provide permanent strong security presence.
The parish have Missionaries of Don Bosco and the Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco, who run the parishes Manguo and Manikakara, Several schools, primary and kindergarten, secondary school and hospital plus other pastoral and social services.
Fr. Micheal said that the case has been reported to police and he is calling on the communities to be vigilant and report any suspicious case to authority concerned.
