In his pastoral visit to Holy Family Catholic Parish, Yabua Boma under Nzara County, His Lordship Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, met with 125 men from the local community and encouraged them to work together in a renewed sense of purpose, unity, and social transformation.

“A single person cannot transform a community, but when people come together and work in unity, great things can be achieved,” the bishop said.

He emphasized that true development in South Sudan depends on collective action and a shared vision.

Addressing the gathering at Holy Family Parish, bishop Hiiboro stressed the urgent need for men to reclaim their God-given roles as leaders, protectors, and stewards of their families, communities, and the Church.

The bishop also raised a thoughtful concern over the imbalance in social empowerment efforts, noting that while the global focus on uplifting women is vital, it must not come at the expense of sidelining men.

He highlighted that disengagement of men has contributed to moral, social, and economic challenges facing many communities.

As part of his ongoing campaign to awaken men to their responsibilities, he is leading the formation of Catholic Men Associations (CMA) across the diocese.

He has already launched this initiative in the Central, Central West, and Eastern Deaneries, urging every parish to establish vibrant and active groups of men dedicated to faith, leadership, and service.

The men of Yabua warmly welcomed the bishop’s message and pledged to work together and requested a one-day training session to deepen their understanding of cooperative work and strengthen their teamwork for community development.
