In a ceremony held on Monday, June 30, 2025, the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY) formally welcomed Mr. Lino Nungo as the new Secretary for the Diocese Secretariat Education office, taking over from Mr. Cesar Daudau, who has been appointed principal of Bishop Abangite College by the bishop.
The transition event, led by Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Thomas Bagbiowia and witnessed by clergy, educators, religious leaders, and members of the community, marked a significant moment in the diocese’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its education sector.
In his farewell address, the outgoing Secretary Cesar Daudau reflected on the progress made during his tenure and extended gratitude to the bishop and the diocese for the trust placed in him.
“When I joined the Diocese Secretariat in 2018, we had only 30 to 40 primary schools, but today, that number has grown to 50 or even 60 schools. This is not just growth in numbers, but a growth in faith, knowledge, and community development,” Mr. Ceaser recalled.

He urged his successor to continue the mission of reviving and strengthening Catholic education in the diocese and asked for forgiveness from anyone he may have wronged during his service.
“I call upon all of you to support Mr. Lino Nungo as you supported me. Let us build a stronger future for our children through faith-based education,” he said.
In his remarks, Mr. Lino Nungo expressed humility and commitment to serving the Church and the community. He promised to prioritize school rehabilitation, teacher training, and student welfare.
The Vicar General, Fr. Thomas Bagbiowia, concluded the ceremony with a message of unity and structure in service saying, “We must follow proper procedures in our work,” Fr. Thomas advised. “Don’t rush directly to the bishop. Know where to begin, follow the steps, and the work of God will bear fruit.”
