Diabio CDTY– The Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, Diabio, has witnessed a noteworthy pastoral initiative aimed at empowering women and promoting self-reliance within the ecclesial community, as Sr. Elizabeth from Solidarity Teachers Training College, Yambio, conducted a three-day training workshop for 20 women, focusing on practical skills that can generate income and improve livelihoods.

The training centered on teaching the women how to make rosaries, necklaces, and other creative handcrafts that can serve as a source of income. With patience and enthusiasm, Sr. Elizabeth guided the participants through each step, resulting in beautiful handmade rosaries and necklaces proudly displayed by the women at the end of the workshop. In her closing remarks, Sr. Elizabeth promised to return and continue supporting the women with more training in diverse skills that can help them sustain themselves and their families, contributing to the holistic mission of the Church.

Participants expressed heartfelt appreciation to Sr. Elizabeth for sharing her time and knowledge. They praised her generosity and commitment to empowering women both spiritually and economically. Speaking on behalf of the group, Mrs. Mboringba Mary thanked Sr. Elizabeth for her kindness and encouragement. “We are very happy and grateful to Sister Elizabeth,” she said. “She has shown us how our hands can provide for our families and serve God.”

The women also hailed their Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Wasi Benjamin, for his tireless efforts in guiding the faithful and transforming the parish community. Since he was entrusted with the Pastoral care of their parish by his local ordinary, Fr. Wasi has not only cared deeply for the spiritual welfare of his flock but has also initiated numerous pastoral and developmental programs aimed at uplifting the living standards of his parishioners. His pastoral presence and leadership have inspired unity, hope, and practical engagement within the Christian faithful under his jurisdiction.

At the conclusion of the event, the Parish Priest, Fr. Wasi Benjamin, addressed the women, thanking Sr. Elizabeth and the Solidarity Teachers Training College for their generous collaboration and apostolic zeal. He encouraged the women to use their new skills with confidence and dedication. “May these hands you have trained become instruments of prayer and provision,” Fr. Wasi said. “The Church will continue to accompany you spiritually, morally, and practically, as you turn these skills into sources of livelihood. We shall support future trainings and create opportunities for you to market your work.” He further invited the entire parish community to support the women by purchasing and promoting their handcrafted items as a sign of ecclesial solidarity.
