In a solemn yet joy-filled ordination ceremony in the Diocese of Tombura Yambio on 4th January 2026, Bishop Eduardo, charged newly ordained Priests, to remain faithful to their calling and to become instruments of peace in a nation yearning for stability, unity, and reconciliation.

During his homily at the ordination Mass, the Bishop reminded the new priests that their vocation goes beyond personal fulfillment or status, emphasizing that priesthood is fundamentally rooted in service to God, the Church, and society. He called on them to live lives of holiness and integrity, stressing that the country’s fragile social fabric depends in part on the moral witness of religious leaders.
“Remain holy priests; our country needs peace,” the Bishop said, a message that resonated deeply with the congregation and was met with attentive silence and warm applause.

The Bishop further underscored that priesthood transcends geography, ethnicity, and tribal identity, noting that the newly ordained are called to serve the universal Catholic Church. He urged them to see themselves as servants of all people, entrusted with the mission of proclaiming the Gospel, administering the sacraments, and embodying Christ’s love and humility in their daily lives.
Highlighting the challenges facing society, the Bishop encouraged the new priests to be men of prayer, compassion, and moral courage, especially at a time marked by social tension, insecurity, and ethical struggles. He noted that the example of holy and committed priests can help heal divisions, promote reconciliation, and strengthen peace within communities.

The ordination Mass drew a large congregation, including family members of the newly ordained, fellow clergy, religious men and women, and lay faithful from different parishes. The faithful joined in prayer and celebration, expressing gratitude for the gift of new priests and their commitment to a lifetime of service to the Church and the people of God.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for peace and unity, as the newly ordained priests begin their pastoral ministry with a renewed call to serve faithfully and work for the common good.
