The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY) has officially opened a new Women’s Center in Tombura County, providing a dedicated space for recovery and empowerment in a region rebuilding after years of conflict.

Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro blessed and inaugurated the facility on Wednesday, hailing it as a significant step forward for local women seeking to rebuild their lives through practical education and skills training.
The center, established under the diocese’s social development arm, the Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CODEP), will serve as a safe and inclusive environment where women can acquire essential life and vocational skills designed to improve household incomes and strengthen community resilience.

During the dedication ceremony, Bishop Hiiboro underscored the critical role women play in fostering lasting peace and development, particularly in communities recovering from conflict and displacement.

“This center is not just a building; it is a symbol of hope, dignity, and resilience,” Bishop Hiiboro said. “By equipping women with skills, we are investing in families and in the future of Tombura.”

The Women’s Center is expected to help beneficiaries achieve self-reliance, support their families financially, and contribute meaningfully to peacebuilding initiatives across the region.
