The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, Rt. Rev. Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, has called for stronger collaboration among humanitarian partners to support hundreds of refugees from the Central African Republic (CAR) currently sheltering in Source Yubu, Tombura County.

Speaking during a pastoral visit to the refugee settlement on Sunday, Bishop Eduardo met families who fled ongoing insecurity in the neighboring Central African Republic and are now living in vulnerable conditions. He offered words of encouragement and solidarity, assuring them of the Catholic Church’s continued commitment to stand with displaced communities.

Addressing refugees and humanitarian workers, the Bishop emphasized the need for coordinated efforts between the Church, government authorities, and humanitarian organizations to address urgent needs, including food, shelter, healthcare, and education.

“The Church cannot work alone,” Bishop Eduardo said. “We are committed to collaborating with humanitarian partners to ensure that the dignity, safety, and basic needs of our brothers and sisters here in Source Yubu are upheld.”

The Bishop was accompanied by the Director of the Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CODEP), the Deputy Director of Anisa FM, Zungumbara Luize, and other Church officials.

The visit comes amid an increasing influx of refugees crossing into South Sudan from the Central African Republic due to persistent conflict and insecurity. Church leaders and humanitarian actors continue to call for coordinated responses to ease the suffering of displaced populations and promote peaceful coexistence with host communities.
