The Catholic Diocese of Yambio has held its first Administrative Board Meeting of the year on 5th January 2026.  Chaired by the Ordinary of the Diocese, Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, marking the official start of diocesan planning and coordination for the new year.

The meeting brought together diocesan administrators, departmental heads, and representatives from both pastoral and social service wings to review the Diocese’s activities in the previous year and to chart a clear way forward for holistic development and effective service delivery.

Addressing the board members, Bishop Hiiboro emphasized the importance of reflecting honestly on the successes, achievements, and challenges encountered in 2025. He encouraged members to appreciate the progress made while remaining focused on improving areas affected by constraints.

“It is precious to end the year by counting achievements,” the Bishop said, urging participants not to be discouraged by challenges but instead to transform them into practical action plans aimed at strengthening services for the good of all the faithful in the Diocese.

Call for Collaboration and Focused Service

The Bishop called on diocesan administrators to deepen cooperation and collaboration in the new year, stressing the need for unity of purpose across all institutions of the Diocese. He urged departments to clearly define their roles, priorities, and expected contributions in order to meet the Diocese’s mission and targeted goals.

He further encouraged leaders to focus on meaningful pastoral and church services that respond to the real needs of the people of God, emphasizing accountability, transparency, and commitment at all levels of administration.

Resource Constraints and Local Fundraising

During the meeting, several management board members highlighted limited financial and material resources as a major challenge affecting performance in key operational areas. They noted the need to strengthen local resource mobilization efforts while continuing to engage partners as needs arise.

In response, Bishop Hiiboro encouraged creativity, responsible stewardship, and collective effort in addressing resource gaps, while maintaining trust in God’s providence and the support of the wider Church.

Professional Commitment and Accountability

The Bishop also called on departmental leaders to work closely with all diocesan employees and volunteers to demonstrate their commitment in formal and transparent ways. He stressed the importance of documenting roles, responsibilities, and voluntary contributions to avoid misunderstandings and institutional distortion.

He instructed departments to coordinate with the diocesan legal office where necessary to ensure compliance with diocesan policies and structures.

A United Start to the New Year

The meeting brought together representatives from the pastoral, social services, and media departments, signaling a united approach to beginning the year with clarity, relevance, and renewed commitment to service.

The first administrative board meeting of 2026 set a positive tone for the year ahead, reaffirming the Diocese of Yambio’s dedication to coordinated leadership, responsible governance, and faithful service to the people of God within the Diocese and beyond.
