Construction of the St. Raphael Mother and Child Hospital in Tombura is making steady progress, offering renewed hope for improved healthcare services for local residents and thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the area.

Once completed, the facility is expected to play a vital role in addressing maternal and child health needs in a region that has suffered more than five years of conflict. The prolonged insecurity displaced many families and severely disrupted access to essential social services, including healthcare.

As part of ongoing monitoring efforts, Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro, accompanied by the Director of the Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CODEP), recently paid a courtesy visit to the construction site. During the visit, the delegation inspected the ongoing works and commended the construction team for the progress achieved despite challenging conditions.

The hospital is expected to serve thousands of community members and displaced families upon completion, contributing significantly to recovery efforts, stability, and improved wellbeing in Tombura and surrounding areas.
